India’s Rakhi Market 2025 Set to Hit ₹17,000 Crore: Patriotic & Eco-Friendly Designs Lead the Festive Boom

CAIT predicts record-breaking Raksha Bandhan sales as Made-in-India, theme-based, and sustainable rakhis dominate markets nationwide.

Raksha Bandhan 2025 is expected to drive ₹17,000 crore in trade, with patriotic, eco-friendly, and locally crafted rakhis capturing consumer demand across India.

India’s Rakhi Market 2025 Set for ₹17,000 Crore Trade Surge

India’s festive markets are witnessing unprecedented consumer footfall ahead of Raksha Bandhan 2025, with trade volumes projected to touch ₹17,000 crore, according to the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

This year’s celebration, falling on 9 August — the anniversary of the Quit India Movement — is infused with patriotic fervour, amplified by the Indian armed forces’ recent Operation Sindoor victory. The mood is translating into buying behaviour, with Made-in-India rakhis stealing the spotlight.

H2: From National Pride to Local Craftsmanship

“No Chinese goods are visible in the market this year,” stated CAIT Secretary General and MP Praveen Khandelwal. “Consumers are consciously supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat by choosing Indian-made products. This Raksha Bandhan is about love, nationalism, and economic self-reliance.”

The market trend extends beyond rakhis to complementary festive products, with CAIT estimating an additional ₹4,000 crore in trade from sweets, dry fruits, gift hampers, and decorative items.

H2: Patriotic & Theme-Based Rakhis in Demand

Top-selling designs include:

  • Modi Rakhi
  • Operation Sindoor Rakhi
  • Atmanirbhar Bharat Rakhi
  • Digital Rakhis with QR codes

Eco-friendly rakhis — made from seeds, khadi, bamboo, and cotton — are also booming in popularity, many handcrafted by women entrepreneurs, artisans, and self-help groups.

H2: Regional Designs Win Hearts

Shoppers are embracing regional artistry, with demand soaring for:

  • Chhattisgarh’s kosa silk rakhis
  • Assam’s tea-leaf rakhis
  • Jaipur’s Sanganeri print designs
  • Bihar’s Madhubani-themed rakhis

Customised rakhis featuring sibling names or photographs are trending in metros and tier-2 cities alike.

H2: Festival as an Economic Driver

Retailers see Raksha Bandhan as a post-monsoon sales catalyst, especially after a slow consumer spending phase earlier this year.

“This is no longer just a festival of family,” Khandelwal noted. “It’s a social-commercial movement blending emotion, economy, and national pride. The spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is visible in the diversity of designs.”
